Lions camp to hold open house

Letters to the editor

EDITOR: Many thanks to all of the wonderful people who helped make our 30-30 Stevens Point Evening Lions fundraiser a success. There were 28 $100 winners, a $300 winner as well as a $600 winner! The rest of you 300 folks are also winners. There are 1,300 of God’s special children who get a week’s vacation at the Lions Camp in Rosholt each year. Parents also receive a vacation knowing that their children are being well taken care of.

Here is the date for your calendars: Aug. 21 will be an open house at the Lions Camp celebrating 60 years of the Lions Camp. The camp started out with an idea from a blind kid who said, “We can’t go to outdoor camps and stuff like that.” That remark was heard by Lion Ray Hempel of Poy Sippi. Today there are 440 acres plus a 50-acre private lake surrounded by Lions property on all four sides of the lake. The Lions Camp is located one mile east of Rosholt on State 66 and 1 mile north on County A. All of the buildings will be open for your viewing.

Thanks as well to all of the volunteers who helped make the Mother’s Day rose sale a success, sponsored by the Wisconsin Right to Life and Portage County Right to Life. There were 3,000 roses sold.
