UWSP students have fun on 'Pink Street'

STEVENS POINT – Students from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point took to "Pink Street" as part of homecoming activities on Wednesday.

Students threw footballs into garbage cans from increasing distances outside the Health Enhancement Center on campus in order to win prizes like gasoline cards from Team Schierl. The company also offered prizes for Plinko and Spin to Win games.

UWSP is marking Pink Week, which honors survivors of breast cancer and other cancers.

Harry Kasprzyk, a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, spins a wheel to win a prize from Team Schierl Companies as part of homecoming activities on Wednesday in front of the Health Enhancement Center.

UWSP football team members, dressed in their pink jerseys, handed out fliers and promoted their homecoming game set for this Saturday against North Central College (Ill.). Pink T-Shirts, which people are being encouraged to wear to the game, were on sale at the Wednesday event and will continue to be sold for $10 at the UWSP Store on campus.

Fourth Avenue, located in front of the Health Enhancement Center, was unofficially renamed "Pink Street" on Sunday and will remain so through October, in honor of breast cancer awareness month.
