Ruby Coffee Roasters up for big award

People can help Ruby Coffee Roasters, of Nelsonville, who is up for recognition as part of the seventh annual Sprudgie Awards.

Ruby Roasters is up for the Notable Roaster award along with Koppi of Helsingborg, Sweden; Five Elephant Coffee in Berlin, Germany; 49th Parallel in Vancouver, British Columbia; Cat and Cloud in Santa Cruz, California; and Heart Coffee Roasters in Portland, Oregon.

The Sprudgies, awarded by the coffee website Sprudge, honor notable achievements in coffee in a variety of categories, and are chosen by a panel of international judges. In January, Ruby Roasters won a Sprudgie for the best mail-order coffee subscription.

The company’s Ethiopia Guji Uraga coffee is also one of 21 finalists for a 2016 Good Food Award, which will be announced Jan. 14 in San Francisco.

People looking to support Ruby Roasters can vote online at http://sprudge.com/vote. Votes, which will be taken into account in the selection process, will be accepted through Jan. 3, and winners will be announced during the first week in January.
