Thanks to Project Fresh Clothes sponsors, volunteers

Letters to the editor

EDITOR: Thank you to the entire community for your involvement with Project Fresh Clothes. Over the summer almost 9,000 tops, bottoms, shoes and coats were collected or purchased with donated dollars and distributed to over 1,000 school-aged children on Aug. 15. Most important were the children served. We appreciate the families with children who participated. It was great to see your smiling faces and arms full of clothes, shoes and coats to wear. This will help to get your school year off to a great start.

Special recognition goes to our community members for your involvement. This event involves over 75 volunteers. Whether you donated clothes, made a donation, helped to sort or launder clothes, set up the event, helped with the distribution or cleaned up, you are appreciated.

The Women’s Fund of Portage County, First Weber Realtors, and SPARTA are recognized for their foundation contributions. Other Mothers is recognized for their multiple clothing donations and Call it New/Call it Antique, Nice as New and Remix for donations. The YMCA, First Weber and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church served as collection sites and this was very convenient, thank you.

We are so very grateful to local media for publicizing the project. St. Vincent de Paul graciously allowed us the use of their clothing racks.

Thank you to Connie Negaard at Ben Franklin Jr. High School for always welcoming us and her custodial staff who help us with set up and tear down. They are super people!
