ROSHOLT — A garage at the Wisconsin Lions Camp in Rosholt is a total loss after a fire Sunday afternoon, said Rosholt Fire Chief Chris Kluck.

A vehicle that was used to drive campers around the campground and to haul an eyeglass recycling trailer for one of the organization's charity projects, and a tractor used for wagon rides also were lost in the fire, said Wisconsin Lions Foundation Facility Director Dale Schroeder. Equipment such as chainsaws and trimmers also were stored in the garage.

Kluck said the fire, which was reported about 2:10 p.m., took about 30 minutes to extinguish.

The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

The 450-acre campground, owned by the Wisconsin Lions Foundation, is used to operate summer camp programs for youths and adults with disabilities.

Schroeder said he wasn't on the campground when the fire began but that the structure was engulfed when he arrived

"Nobody was hurt, so it's all things that you can replace," he said. "You hate to have it happen, but it's one of those things that no personnel was involved in it."

The camp's Facebook page reported Sunday that the fire would not affect any off-season rentals or the upcoming summer camp program.

Firefighters from Rosholt, Stockton, Hull, Iola and Park Ridge responded to the fire.
